Naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA) is a synthetic auxin plant hormone and is commonly used for the vegetative propagation and growth promotion of plants from stem and leaf cutting.
The effect of NAA on plant growth to a large degree depends on the time of administration and the concentration of the substance. Administering the substance in 4-week cycles, interrupted by 4-week breaks, is most efficient, as it significantly promotes adventitious root growth. This way, NAA exhilarates shoot growth, but with the full-time non-stop use it may slow down the growth.
